Apple is Developing Wireless Charging for its New Gadget iWatch

Share

You would have heard much about the rumours of Apple iWatch, which has been in lime light since the past one year. Apple is looking forward to develop an alternative power supply for its iWatch. They are testing alternative charging methods to increase the power and maintain the battery life.

Some of the sources say that Apple is in the process of testing the wireless charging method with magnetic induction. Which is different from the technology used in Nokia Smartphones. It might also use solar energy by using the curved glass screen as solar panel in iWatch most probably. Apple patented a flexible battery that could "easily couple with a flexible solar panel layer"

Yet another involves "charging the battery through movement, a method that is already used in many modern watches," the Times said.

"A person's arm swinging could operate a tiny charging station that generates and pushes power to the device while walking." Apple filed a patent for the technology in 2009.

iWatch has been a garnering lot of attention in the recent times, and the company has supposedly filed for the trademark in several countries like Japan, Mexico and Taiwan. Apple has been in slight troubles over making the iWatch including challenges with the screen technology, battery problems, and possible manufacturing bumps.

Apple has yet to officially introduce a device with wireless charging support, but a smartwatch seems like it'd be an ideal place for the company to start using the tech. The Apple iWatch is still very much a rumor at this point, as the Cupertino firm hasn't made any official announcements regarding any upcoming wearable devices.
