Positive and Negative Aspects of Google Now Launcher

5:07 PM vasee

Google now launcher is one of the best android launchers ever built. Google's materialistic design pretends you that you are using Android 5.0 Lollipop even you are using the older version of android. It's out for the Android Versions Kitkat and Jellybean. To be accurate 4.1 and above. Even the best has its positive and negative aspects.

Positive

  • Material design. This is the best option for people who prefer plain and clean UI for their phones since it is not too complicated and confusing. Some launchers that are pre loaded with the phone such as Blinkfeed launcher for HTC are too complicated to use and people users will be bored of the look over the period of time, but everybody loves the clean and neat UI
  • Animation. Now you can see the where a response is coming from when you touch something. App drawer pops up from home button on your screen. In the original build of Android L we can see much more animations and touch feedbacks. It does not change the look of notification bar or some of the apps that comes pre installed with the phone.
  • Google Now. You just swipe right or just say "Okay Google Now" from any screen or even when your phone is locked to access your google now. It can perform all sort of tasks which is integrated with google cards. It can search your phone for content like Apps, Chrome Bookmarks and History, All your contact datas, Play books, Play Movies TV, Play Music and it can also look for content in 3rd party apps.

Negative

  • One one only negative aspect is Lack of customization.
  • No1. You cannot disable google now in your homescreen. HTC users may likes have google now launcher with their native news feed app Blinkfeed. That is not possible.
  • You cannot hide apps in the app drawer. You may want to hide certain apps from app drawer due to some privacy issues, but it is not possible.

  • It will not allow you to use some of the widgets that comes pre installed in your phone. I am a HTC user. It is convenient for me to have a people widget when I swipe my screen right. Google Now Launcher hides the people widget that comes pre installed and it shows the direct dial widget.

Will windows phone division develop a new hardware for android platform?

6:26 PM vasee

Will windows phone division develop a new hardware for android platform? There were many rumours in this particular issue. But recently the Wall Street journal have been published an article that says that Microsoft's handset making division will launch a new device that will run in android platform in the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona.

So why would Microsoft, which has its own mobile platform, sanction its soon to be mobile making division to build an Android-powered device? Being as Windows Phone has failed to challenge Android’s reach at the lower end of the smartphone market.

Switching to Android for budget devices would be one way for Microsoft to slice itself a larger portion of a very large (and growing) chunk of the smartphone pie. The device would also not resemble vanilla Android in terms of its UI, but would rather be a fork of Android just as Amazon has forked Android for its Kindle Fire tablets and to further its own ends, not Google’s with Nokiasoft apparently dressing the interface to make it look like Windows Phone

The newspaper’s sources confirm the handset will be unveiled later this month so presumably the project has been okayed by Microsoft’s new CEO Satya Nadella.

Bye Bye! Flappy bird. Yes, We can't play it anymore

12:21 PM vasee

Yes! Flappy bird distribution on App Store, google play and market place is to be stopped any time. According to the tweet from developer of .Gears who developed the game. He said I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore. In tweet.

Thank god, Humans can be saved before it's too late.

You know that the pillars in the game is stolen from supermario! At first even I thought that he is taking the game down because of the copyrights issue. It's not. This decision is entirely personal he said. The news comes one day after the game received a wonderful new update that improved its frame rate along with adding new bird colors and a night time level. Still it's easy to see how the explosion of press for the small developer has been causing stress.

Said Nguyen in another tweet, "I can call 'Flappy Bird' is a success of mine. But it also ruins my simple life. So now I hate it." He went on to say that he plans on continuing to make games. Despite what we thought of it, Flappy Bird is reportedly making the Vietnam-based developer around $50,000 a day in ad revenue.

Dangerous Android Trojan Oldboot hits 350,000 devices. Alert!

6:53 PM vasee

Android is the world's most popular smartphone operating system, it follows that malefactors would develop some of the most harmful malware for it. A program called Android.Oldboot represents the first-ever Android bootkit: a Trojan that can reinstall itself every time the system reboots.

Oldboot has infected over 350,000 devices worldwide, according to Russian security firm Doctor Web.However, most of the compromised devices (92%) are located in China, which is not surprising, since the Trojan Android.Oldboot is intended for Android-powered devices in China.

The bootkit targets Android's kernel, the deepest part of an OS. Not only is malware extremely difficult to remove from the kernel, but it can also rewrite a device's rebooting procedures from there. Even though Android anti-virus software can remove the offending program, these anti-virus programs cannot prevent the malware from reinstalling itself upon each reboot.

Doctor Web explains: “This malware is particularly dangerous because even if some elements of Android.Oldboot that were installed onto the mobile device after it was turned on are removed successfully, the component imei_chk will still reside in the protected memory area and will re-install the malware after a reboot and, thus, re-infect the system.”

You Can Now Download Facebook's New 'Paper' App for iPhone

10:24 AM vasee

Facebook’s Paper, the social network’s News Feed makeover app for iPhone, is now available for download in iTunes. The new Paper experience by Facebook, announced last week, is a customizable photo and video-centric app that allows you to view posts from your friends, as well as articles on different topics that interest you.

Facebook introduced Paper, a new standalone app for iPhone that brings together your News Feed, news articles, videos and more into a single well-designed, distraction-free location.Paper takes a wholly different approach to what is essentially the same source material, offering up full-page themed content to keep you focused.

You build the content out, choosing from a dozen-plus different topics in categories like food, sports, science and design, with Facebook pulling content from “emerging voices and well-known publications.” And that, really, is where the whole Flipboard comparison holds water here.

We’ll have full our full thoughts on Paper for iPhone posted soon, but you can grab the app right now for free. Paper is currently only available for iPhone.

Frustrating Flappy Bird, Which Dominates the Entire App Store and Google Play

12:08 PM vasee

Flappy Bird, a game you can barely play for more than a few seconds without throwing your phone across the room in frustration, is dominating the App Store and Google Play. As for the Flappy Bird game, its deceptively simple appearance with graphics that harken back to the era of 8-bit gaming, is actually one of the hardest games you’ll ever play. And yet the gameplay involves nothing more than tapping your screen to keep a flying bird from running into green pipes that look like they've been snatched out of Super Mario Bros. Yes, that’s the extent of it. There’s no other challenge or story.
As you quickly die and die and die again, the urge to press “OK,” and “Start” seems impossible to resist, so you continue to re-spawn your stupid little bird and try to pass your best score.
Like most endless runners, Flappy Bird is a game with no conclusion that subsists solely on your hunger for a higher score and your dumb, completely illogical belief that you will in fact get any value out of playing, let alone feel like you're getting better at the task at all.
Game developer 29-year old Nguyen Ha Dong runs an indie game studio called .GEARS based in Vietnam. “.GEARS is not a company,” he notes. “It is just myself now but I have to use term ‘we’ to prepare for changes in the future.

Spy Agencies like NSA Probe Angry Birds and Other Apps for a Personal Data

8:51 AM vasee

Are they angry birds are spying birds.

Angry birds is one of the top most smartphone games played across the world. It has large number of players, at least 70% of smartphone users playing Angry birds. What if it leaks your personal data to NSA.

According to the documents leaked by Edward Snowden, that the national security agency and GCHQ, have been working to develop ways to access personal data through so called 'leaky Apps' like Angry Birds, apparently transmit your personal information over the internet insecurely.

So, what kind of data? It can include very personal and information. According to the Guardian, "users’ most sensitive information such as sexual orientation – and one app recorded in the material even sends specific sexual preferences such as whether or not the user may be a swinger."

When a smartphone user uploads a photo to social media like Facebook and Twitter these apps may provide data about your phone types as well as your location.

They have a lot of information about us since our social media profile publish dates including where we live, marital status, sexual orientation, education and information about our families and friends. This is what NSA can collect via these leaky apps.

According to the documents by Snowden, personal information is also collected by advertising agencies that serve ads on mobile devices. An advertising firm that has partnered with Angry birds maker Rovio for certain edition of games to get particularly rich informations.

Rovio VP of marketing and communication said that  "Rovio doesn't have any previous knowledge of this matter, and have not been aware of such activity in 3rd party advertising networks. Nor do we have any involvement with the organizations you mentioned."

GCHQ analytics used the Google Maps to collect the location data. It means that anyone using Google Maps on a smartphone is working in support of this system. Android smartphone users may be at higher risk from this kind of data collection. While IOS often allows user to disallow apps from accessing their personal informations like photos and location. Android users have to agree all permissions I order to download an app.

But what Rovio said was.
“The alleged surveillance may be conducted through third party advertising networks used by millions of commercial websites and mobile applications across all industries,” the company said. “If advertising networks are indeed targeted, it would appear that no internet-enabled device that visits ad-enabled websites or uses ad-enabled applications is immune to such surveillance. Rovio does not allow any third party network to use or hand over personal end-user data from Rovio’s apps.”

OS X Concept Inspired by iOS 7

1:29 PM vasee

iOS 7 is a awesome mobile operating system used in the Apple products like iPhone, iPad. Apple have a separate operating system for Macintosh it is called OS X. The latest edition of OS X is Mavericks. Apple have stuffed the Mavericks with many awesome features but still it is still lagging behind when we compare it to iOS. So do you think it should be updated. Now just imagine how it will be when iOS and OS X is combined together.

Designer Stu Crew have done few images on this concept. He also says that.

iOS 7 will change Apple's software design dramatically leaving OS X behind. In order to visualise the new style on a Mac screen I recreated several elements and applied them to several programs. Created to explore the idea of an updated OS X this is just a update of looks with a few new functions taken from both the iPhone and iPad.

Have a look

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) Announces Free Voice Calls

10:10 PM vasee

Smartphone maker Blackberry will introduce free voice calls on its instant messenger app over next month through an update which will also allow users to surf and create BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) channels. They have also said that it will also include voice messages just like whatsapp.

This free calling feature available across Android, iPhone and BlackBerry OS 5 upwards smartphones. Around 100 million people worldwide use BBM. The company may also launch BBM for Windows devices in the future, the only operating system that does not support BBM at present.

BBM Voice will compete with voice over IP (VoIP) services like Skype as well as Facebook Messenger to allow smartphone users to make calls over WiFi or cellular data, and avoid racking up minutes on their phone plans. BlackBerry has not announced when the update would roll out to all users, but said last October that it would become available “within months” to Android and iPhone users.

Windows 9. Huge Expectations

9:28 PM vasee

There are a huge expectations for the Windows 9. Since windows 8 and 8.1 are not a big success like its previous version windows 7.  Windows watched Paul reports that the windows 9 may be launched around April 2015. The company will unveil the vision of windows 9 in the developer's conference of 2014.

No one couldn't guess what type of changes will be made on the new windows 9 but there are some possibilities for the improvement in the Metro OS of the system. Upgrades in windows apps and tiles will be done. There are some possibilities of start menu is getting back to its position. And metro apps may run in the traditional windows.

On the other side Appe's OS X mavericks is a successful one eventhough it is free upgrade from the App Store. So it's clear that if windows couldn't make it possible many users will just jump from windows to mac including me.

Apple have promised to resolve the crashing problem in iOS 7

11:50 PM vasee

Apple is a great consumer electronics maker with awesome products like iPhone, iPad, iPod, Macintosh. But I think they failed as a software maker. Their latest mobile device operating system which is called as iOS 7 often crashes. Especially the latest A7 chip powered devices such as iPad Air and iPhone 5S. When you use your phone or an iPad air very often the device crashes and you will just see the white screen with Apple logo in it. This makes your device restart or sometimes whatever you are doing it just closes down everything and comes to home screen.

When they have launched the iOS 7.0.4 every one have expected the crashing problem is resolved, but they just fixed the minor bugs and missed the major annoying thing about using iOS. Apple team have promised that this problem will be resolved in the next update which is iOS 7.1. But the beta version of this developers are trying to improve the major problems in iOS 7. Hope our problems are resolved in the next update.

Have something to share. Put in in comments.

Subway surfers have launched its latest edition World tour Miami

9:32 PM vasee

The great entertainment game Subway Surfers which is almost in every hands of smartphone users have launched the update from Mumbai edition to "World tour Miami". You have got a new retro style outfit for Tasha. In weekly hunts you have got pink flamingos. You can also unlock the snappy new outfit for suntanned boy, Nick. Here I show you some amazing screen shots from the game.

Snapchat Ghost Protocol. Someone breaks that.

8:23 PM vasee

Snapchat have introduced ghost captcha to prevent the creation of fake accounts to exploit the "Find friends" feature. These fake accounts are basically created by bots. So this feature make sure that every snapchat account is crated by a human being.

On the human verification screen there will be 9 photos, in some images there are ghosts as you can see in the image below. You just have to select the images in which ghosts are peeping out. This is the ghost captchas. This may be called as ghost protocol. Awesome. Isn't it?

No absolutely not. Steven Hickson has already written software that circumvents the anti-bot feature. His technique simply finds the best matches between Snapchat's sample pictures and a reference image. It's not flawless, but it's still accurate -- no mean feat for something that took less than an hour to program.

I think it's hard to break Steve's Code

iOS 7 Six Hidden Features

11:41 AM vasee

When iOS 7 beta was launched, one of my friends said "You little beauty on my hands". As he said it Is damn beautiful and it have captured the hearts of many people around the world. You must have updated to the latest iOS 7 and experienced the new features and power of iOS. But there are some awesome things which are hiding behind which will take some time to discover

1.Clock

Go ahead and look at your clock app icon. Take a closer look. It's an actual clock with a working second hand. A nice little touch from Apple.
2. Text Timestamps

If you slide text messages to the left, you can see the timestamp for all of them — not just the most recent.
3. Night Mode for Maps

If you're driving late at night, the glow of your iPhone screen can be nearly blinding as you try to use the Apple Maps app. Now, the platform displays a darker interface at certain times. This is less distracting and easier on the eyes when navigating at night.
4. Closing Multiple Apps

You can close multiple apps at once! Here's how: double click the home button to reveal open webpages and platforms. You can then swipe up to three apps at the same time by using three fingers and dragging them upwards.
5. Siri controls the settings
You can use Siri to set alarms and reminders on previous iOS versions, but now you can lean on her to navigate settings too. For example, by saying "Open Settings," Siri will open the Settings folder. By asking Siri to "Turn Off Wi-Fi," she'll gladly oblige without you having to lift a finger. You can also tell her to make calls and play voicemail messages too.
6. Block Calls

If you're getting harassing calls, you can now put a stop to it. Visit Settings > Phone > Blocked to add numbers you want to restrict.

11:17 PM vasee

What do you think about the Internet Explorer. China Brings Their New Operating System. But Nothing New

9:12 PM vasee

A new operating system has entered the market, offering a Chinese-developed alternative to software of foreign origin.
The operating system, known as China Operating System, or COS, was developed by the Institute of Software at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with Shanghai Lian Tong Network Communication Technology Inc.
The system has a number of key selling points, its developers say, including applicability to a wide range of computer-based hardware, not just smartphones, and the claim that it fixes a range of existing programming bugs and errors.
They also point to COS as a product of Chinese origin.
"The release of COS aims to break the monopoly that foreign companies have on fundamental software, and to introduce an operating system with our own intellectual property rights," said Li Minshu, director of the institute.

Siri hates google glasses.

11:13 AM vasee

It turns out that Apple's Siri isn't a fan of Google Glass.
Users of Google Glass need to tell their glasses "Ok Glass" in order to trigger them to react to voice-control features.
If you say the same to Apple's Siri you'll get some interesting responses,
According to reports, if you say "Ok glass" to Siri, you will get one of six responses:
"Very funny, (name). I mean, not funny 'ha-ha,' but funny."
"I think that Glass is half empty."
"I'm not Glass. And I'm just fine with that."
"Glass? I think you've got the wrong assistant."
"Stop trying to strap me to your forehead. It won't work."
"Just so you know, I don't do anything when you blink at me."

The New iOS 7.1 Beta 2 from Apple

6:52 PM vasee

iOS 7.1 beta 2 has been out for a little less than a day so far, and there are some new user-facing features that people will notice when the public version drops eventually; assuming these features make it to the public release of course.
First off, Touch ID & Passcode was moved front and center, now sitting just under Sounds on the main Settings page. No longer do you have to dive into General > Touch ID & Passcode to find it.
Calendar got an updated layout, now allowing you to show a list of events below the tradition Month view, something that was available in iOS 1-6 but was oddly removed in iOS 7. Now it seems that Apple looks to add it back. To turn it on, you press the button at the top of the screen (highlighted in red).
The Dark Keyboard option is no longer available in beta, so either Apple decided against the idea or it was never meant to be public. As you can see, however, a new option for “Button Shapes” has been added. What this does is adds a gray shape around the all-text buttons of the iOS 7 UI, making them look more like the traditional buttons you were used to pre-iOS 7.
Also found in iOS 7.1 beta 2 is a new option under restrictions: Car Display. It looks like iOS 7.1 could finally be the public release that unlocks iOS 7′s ‘iOS in the Car’ feature that it showed back at WWDC, but then went silent about. This could be on accident though, let’s just hope it wasn’t.

Also seen in beta 2 are some noticeably faster animations. If you have access to a device running the newest beta and compare it to an iOS 7.0.4 device, or even a beta 1 device, you will notice the animations of opening apps, folders, or getting to multitasking are much faster. Also there is a new animation for opening Control Center, which I don’t really care for. It is much bouncier than before, and makes the utility feel more childish. I also noticed that the contrast for Control Center has been bumped up, making it appear brighter than in earlier versions.
