Google has once again proven itself to be a true corporate leader for equality, with a Doodle

8:46 AM vasee

On the eve of the XXII Winter Olympics opening ceremony, Google is taking a stand for athletes, gay, straight, or otherwise, with a new doodle on the Internet search engine's website. The logo is a harsh critique of the Russian government, which is currently hosting the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi.
The page now shows a winter sports competitor above each of the six letters in the U.S. Internet giant's name, set against backgrounds in the six colors on the gay pride flag - red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
The international outcry over the law, signed by Putin last year, threatens to undermine his hopes of using the Games to portray Russia as a modern state that has come a long way since the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
The Human Rights Campaign, an LGBT rights organization, praised Google for what it called a move to show solidarity with LGBT Russians and visiting athletes.
A piece of the Olympic Charter is quoted beneath illustrations of several Winter Olympic sports:
"The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play."

"Google has once again proven itself to be a true corporate leader for equality," HRC President Chad Griffin said.

Five things you need to know about the doodle

1. Google is One of Many Websites Taking a Stand Against Russia

2. The Olympic Charter was Written in 2013

3. LGBT People in Russia are Violently Repressed

4. The United Nations Secretary-General Issued a Statement

Many professional athletes, gay and straight, are speaking out against prejudice. We must all raise our voices against attacks on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex people. We must oppose the arrests, imprisonments and discriminatory restrictions they face.

The United Nations stands strongly behind our own 'free and equal' campaign, and I look forward to working with the IOC, governments and other partners around the world to build societies of equality and tolerance. Hatred of any kind must have no place in the 21st century.

5. President Obama Would Not Go to the Olympics

Facebook agrees to do a look back video for Berlin on his dead son

11:17 PM vasee

You all aware of the Facebook look back video. With the help of automated tool it can able to build up video of everyone using Facebook ever since they have joined Facebook. The 62-second clip notes the year you joined Facebook, then shows a handful of your most-liked posts and a seemingly random selection of your photos -- all set to instrumental music.

In the URL Facebook.com/lookback you can see your video.

Facebook agreed to create a Look Back video of a dead man after his father made a tearful plea in a video that went viral.
"All we want to do is see his movie. That's it," said John Berlin of Arnold, Mo., in a video posted on YouTube. The video had more than 835,216 views as of Today.

Here is the video

Jesse Berlin died on Jan. 28, 2012, at the age of 21, Friends and family can post messages and photos to Jesse's Facebook page, but they cannot access his page to create a Look Back video, Berlin said.

Berlin first tried e-mailing Facebook and got an automated response. He then tweeted at Mark Zuckerberg. He knew it was unlikely that he would hear back from the company.
"Then it just dawned on me that people post these videos and sometimes they go viral," Berlin said.
While recording the video, Berlin did not expect to get so emotional, he said. "It's just what happened."
A representative from Facebook called Berlin on Wednesday evening to say the company would "cut some red tape" to make the video available in a few days, Berlin said. Facebook also told Berlin it was looking into a policy to memorialize Facebook pages for people who have lost loved ones, Berlin said.
Facebook confirmed that it is creating a video for Berlin.
"I touched the hearts of a lot of people," Berlin said. "I wasn't trying to do that, but I did ... I just wanted to see a one-minute video."

The Hottie Finder, a Facebook App that Will Present You With Percentage of Hotness.

11:37 AM vasee

Everyone knows that Facebook started as a social network that allowed Harvard students to rank the attractiveness of their peers. So on the eve of the site’s 10th anniversary, it’s only appropriate to revisit its roots with a program that is equally shallow in concept.

The Hottie Finder, a Facebook app that swallows your social circle’s profile photos, ingests them using a facial recognition software called Rekognition and spits them back out with (seemingly) arbitrary rankings of attractiveness.

How it works?

The Hottie Finder leverages the advanced facial recognition technology by Rekognition.com -- the world's leading image processing API platform. Rekognition offers all-in-one cloud based solution for image recognition using the state-of-art computer vision technology.

This is me 93% hot According to the app

The Hottie Finder measures key points on your face to make judgments on your gender, age, race and emotion — all things we know without doubt contribute to your attractiveness as a human being.

You Can Now Download Facebook's New 'Paper' App for iPhone

10:24 AM vasee

Facebook’s Paper, the social network’s News Feed makeover app for iPhone, is now available for download in iTunes. The new Paper experience by Facebook, announced last week, is a customizable photo and video-centric app that allows you to view posts from your friends, as well as articles on different topics that interest you.

Facebook introduced Paper, a new standalone app for iPhone that brings together your News Feed, news articles, videos and more into a single well-designed, distraction-free location.Paper takes a wholly different approach to what is essentially the same source material, offering up full-page themed content to keep you focused.

You build the content out, choosing from a dozen-plus different topics in categories like food, sports, science and design, with Facebook pulling content from “emerging voices and well-known publications.” And that, really, is where the whole Flipboard comparison holds water here.

We’ll have full our full thoughts on Paper for iPhone posted soon, but you can grab the app right now for free. Paper is currently only available for iPhone.

Katy Perry made Twitter history, becoming the First Person Ever with 50 M followers

11:46 AM vasee

Katy Perry made Twitter history Friday, becoming the first person ever with more than 50 million followers on twitter microblogging website.Twitter Counter, a service for tracking Twitter usage, said Perry had picked up tens of thousands of followers since Thursday, as she roared her way to 50,025,667.

50 million Twitter followers this week, becoming the first user hit the milestone after losing the race to 40 million followers to Justin Bieber in June 2013.

Bieber, who was recently arrested for a DUI in Miami, is close behind with 49.2 million followers.

A "fake follower check" on StatusPeople.com reports that 34% of Katy Perry's followers are fake, based on data retrieved from her first 50,000 followers, which isn't necessarily a fair assessment. But in November, StatusPeople conducted a deeper dive and discovered 42% of "33,000 followers across her first 1.25 million followers" were fake.

Here are top 10 "most-followed" Twitter users:
  1. Katy Perry (@KatyPerry): 50 million followers
  2. Justin Bieber (@JustinBieber): 49.2 million followers
  3. Barack Obama (@BarackObama): 41.2million followers

Twitter said ‘Happy New Year’ around the world with interactive map

11:49 AM vasee

Plenty of Twitter users did as 2014 began, according to an interactive map created by Twitter’s big data visualizer Krist Wongsuphasawat. Wongsuphasawat used Twitter Analytics to comb through the thicket of tweets for instances wishing people a happy New Year in those fizzy hours as December 31 blurs into January 1, neatly mapping these well-wishes out. If you click on each time zone, you can see which countries celebrated at the same time. Twitter used the Time Zone World Map from TechSlides to make it happen, and the map looks beautiful.
If you press “play,” countries begin to light up from east to west and the celebratory words from each language appear onscreen. It’s heartening to see a sentiment of goodwill spread so wide across the globe, even in places like China and Korea, where the Lunar New Year is a larger celebration. Below the map, a chart showing when each regionally distinct phrase for “Happy New Year” was tweeted. The English version has several peaks in popularity, since English is spoken in various parts of the world. The Arabic version appeared to have the most prolonged popularity, while other languages experience only brief spikes upward before its speakers stopped celebrating on Twitter.

Skype’s Facebook, Twitter accounts hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army

11:51 AM vasee

“Stop spying on the people!” Skype tweeted a strangely self-accusatory message on January 1. And this wasn’t part of a company-wide New Year’s resolution to be internally critical. No, it was the result of a hack from a group who claim to be the Syrian Electronic Army.
Skype, which is owned by Microsoft, saw its official blog hacked on Wednesday, along with its Facebook and Twitter accounts. “Don’t use Microsoft emails (hotmail, outlook). They are monitoring your accounts and selling the data to the governments. More details soon #SEA”  some of the posts said. The group repeated similar entreaties on the company’s Facebook pages, and repeatedly tweeted warnings about using the service. These posts were removed, but not before damage was done – one of the anti-Microsoft tweets was re-tweeted over 8,000 times.
Skype addressed the hack in a tweet and emphasized that user information was not compromised.

The SEA is a group of young hackers who support Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, who hack into the accounts of organizations they believe spread bad information about Assad’s regime. The SEA is the highest-profile political hacker collective, and the first to wage successful cyber strikes on its opponents in a way that draws global media attention. It looks as though 2014 will be as busy as 2013 was for them, as the group targeted high-profile media outlets like the New York Times, the BBC, the AP, NPR, Al-Jazeera, and others in the last year. The SEA also went after Twitter in 2013. “You see what the American government wants you to see, but it is a fake revolution,” an SEA leader known as “The Shadow”told Digital Trends last year, explaining the SEA’s motivations. The group has characterized its behavior as a way to damage media outlets spreading bad information, often bad information specifically about the conflict in Syria. But this latest attack shows the SEA’s target pool is widening to include technology companies they believe to aid government spying.
Considering how many organizations were implicated in the NSA leaks, the SEA may have its busiest year ever in 2014.

5 predictions for Facebook advertising in 2014

11:38 AM vasee

Since 2013 was such a big year for Facebook advertising, it’s worth asking: What’s in store for 2014? Here’s a look at five key Facebook advertising predictions that marketers should watch for in the New Year:
  1. Graph Search on mobile will change the Facebook advertising game. Facebook’s inevitable release of Graph Search for mobile (it’s already available on desktop) will be a positive turning point for Facebook ads. Advertisers will be able to place ads on Facebook depending on users’ mobile search terms. They will also have the ability to place a type of sponsored search result, depending on the user’s search, with social context. Facebook previously offered a sponsored results ad type that was widely denounced, but that applied to a previous incarnation of Facebook’s search functionality. Now that search on Facebook is fully baked into the social network’s DNA, especially on mobile where it will play an increasingly influential role, look for Facebook advertising to get a lot more interesting – and competitive – in 2014.
  2. Great creative is now essential on Facebook. Brands will need to put much more research and focus into the images they use in their Facebook ads because the ad size is so large on Facebook (especially in the News Feed). The relatively short lifespan of a Facebook ad means that brands must have a vast quantity of engaging images at the ready in order to keep their ads near the top of users’ News Feeds. Unique, constantly refreshed creative is necessary in order to keep a brand’s ad relevant to users. This is especially true for direct response advertisers, who must rely on engaging, creative ads to entice a consumer into making a purchasing decision.
  3. Offline conversion for retailers. Speaking of consumers’ path-to-purchase on Facebook, the ability for retailers to track offline sales conversions from ads viewed on Facebook is another critical step Facebook is taking to give advertisers deeper insight into how their ads actually drive some type of consumer action. As Inside Facebook recently reported, Facebook has released an update to its Custom Audiences that advertisers to measure offline sales. This update will help advertisers use sales data to overlay on their Facebook data to show what actions a consumer may have taken based on viewing a brand’s ad on Facebook.
  4. Bye-bye right-hand side ad types. Right-hand side ad types will lose favor in 2014 in response to advertisers’ preference for the higher-performing page-post ads and app install ads. The former ad type has been on the decline for some time. Advertisers will be urged to make Facebook their de facto homepage and vehicle for ad content, which will reinforce the concept of Facebook pages as “mission control”. The right-hand side ad placement will continue but it will be miniature format app ads or page-post ads. This change will make the user the de facto quality assurance for Facebook. Users will increasingly have the ability to engage, like and, of course, report an ad, ensuring quality content wins the battle for ad space.
  5. Facebook will continue its shift away from engagement/affinity ads to performance-based ad solutions. For performance-based marketing professionals, such as my Matomy Media Group colleagues and me, Facebook’s recent shift away from engagement and affinity ads, such as its introduction in April 2013 of cost-per-action ad buys, is welcomed news. We have long advocated for more performance-based advertising opportunities on the social network. Advertisers need more than just the ability to engage with consumers. They need to be able to drive consumer actions. Performance-based advertising on Facebook gives advertisers that option.
  6. Bonus: Stepping into Twitter’s territory. Facebook has known for a while that the things its users talk about are supremely interesting and relevant for advertisers. Twitter proved that basing an advertising model around brand mentions really works; Facebook is bound to follow suit. Already, we are seeing Facebook taking steps into Twitter’s territory by showcasing which topics and brands are trending in users’ News Feeds, and by aggregating hashtagged terms. It will come as no surprise to see an ad product appear in 2014 to support both of these Twitter-like additions.

New Facebook Data Strategy: Pushing Out Video Ads

9:40 AM vasee

A Facebook blog post announced the company will start deploying video ads that show up even when you didn’t click anything. The video ads will be static until they become visible on your news feed screen—then they’ll start automatically playing. (And if you click, the video goes to full screen and sound comes on.) But how is this new video advertising being delivered? Facebook explains that it’s engineering things so the ads will be pushed out to your phone, in advance, when you are connected to Wi-Fi.

Using Wi-Fi spares cellular data plans, Facebook notes. Yes, but Wi-Fi connections—in rural village hot spots, but often in other contexts—can be very constrained in terms of bandwidth(see “How Remote Places Can Get Cellular Coverage by Doing It Themselves” and “A Tiny Cell Phone Transmitter Takes Root in Rural Africa”).  And while users will have technically approved the practice under a Facebook app permission process, such permissions and privacy settings are often opaque and complex.

Facebook has made claims about wanting to help the world’s marginalized people get Internet access. Yet as my recent piece notes , its current business practices often cost developing-world Internet providers extra money, and the company isn’t actualy investing in bricks-and-mortar infrastructure, at least not yet. This new program of pushing out unrequested video ads provides fresh reason to keep a close eye on what Facebook and other Web companies will actually try to do, over the long term, with any data efficiency gains they may realize.

Instagram Introduces Photo-messaging Services Like Snapchat

8:05 AM vasee

Instagram has finally unveiled its photo-messaging services like Snapchat. Its response is Instagram Direct. Instagram has fired a shot against popular messaging service Snapchat with the launch of Instagram Direct.

Instagram Direct allows users to send photos and videos directly to a friend or small group of friends.

The announcement comes after it was revealed that Snapchat turned down a $3-billion offer from Instagram parent company Facebook.

Snapchat differs from other IM services as sent photos and videos are deleted after a few seconds.

"From a photo of your daily coffee to a sunrise shared from the top of a mountain hike, every Instagram moment contains something you find special—something you broadcast to your followers when you tap 'share'," read an official blog entry.

"There are, however, moments in our lives that we want to share, but that will be the most relevant only to a smaller group of people—an inside joke between friends captured on the go, a special family moment or even just one more photo of your new puppy. Instagram Direct helps you share these moments."
After sending the photo or video, you'll be able to find out who has seen it, liked it and commented on it.Instagram Direct will exist within the Instagram app.

Google Play Newsstand seeks to mobilize news

9:57 PM vasee

News has taken another step toward a mobile-friendly future, as Google released its Google Play Newsstand app Wednesday.
The new media app offers a simple, smart way to keep up with the publications each reader gravitates toward, and has already replaced the Android magazine app (and soon will replace the iOS app Currents). But are news outlets interested in moving their apps to a Google-oriented platform?
The Newsstand app (not to be confused with Apple's Newsstand app) is a simply-designed, grid-like app that focuses on learning what the reader is interested in as he or she continues to consume news. Consumers can download their favorite news apps to the Newsstand, and the app will aggregate the latest news from each of those to a “Read Now” section. The more readers use the Newsstands app for their news, the more it recognizes reading patterns and individually tailors those top headlines. Readers can also subscribe to tags, offering more specialized content distribution.
The move comes after several generations of attempts by news outlets and tech companies to capture the growing mobile news audience. First, news outlets were designing their own apps, relying on the loyalty of readers to open their app when they wanted the news via smart phone. Then, tech companies started creating platforms that would host news apps, like Flipboard and Newsstand for Apple.
The problem with Flipboard is that it couldn’t aggregate content from subscription-based news outlets. Apple's Newsstand frustrated some outlets because it hid their apps behind the Apple designed app, creating an extra step for readers.
Google Play Newsstand takes care of the first problem by aggregating content even from behind pay walls, but may still face challenges with the second.
Google Newsstand has allowed its news partners to experiment with the platform in order to add extra multimedia content that really shines on Android tablets and smart phones. According to a Verge article, the New Yorker has added an audio component where authors read their articles and poems, and magazines can create layered products that keep the familiarity of the print publication. But these take some navigation to get to, which could deter readers or at least mean they overlook some deeper digital innovations.
This tech company-structured model has already backfired on Apple’s Newsstand. Developer Marko Karpinen, of digital publishing company Maggio, wrote a blog post earlier this year saying his company would no longer recommend developing magazine apps for iOS 7 as it pushed the focus away from the publication and more toward the Newsstand platform itself.
Right now the Google Play Newsstand replaces the current magazine app on Android, and once Google develops an iOS version, it will replace its Currents iOS news app. For now, Android users can experiment with yet another way to consume news in the digital age. Whether it sticks in the always-fluctuating media landscape is a story for another day.

A former friend of hers decided to post on the internet as her and also decided to take money for doing so. This did not sit well with her. If anyone was going to be making money off her slamming body, it was going to be her.

When she came across an unauthorized website with her face (and body) on it, she took matters into her own hands and hacked into the account herself to take them down. Bad. Ass.

After finding success in her attempts, Cooke also used her hacking gift to help out others in similar situations, becoming known as the "Hacker Fairy" to other troubled women being taken advantage of on the Internet. See a video of Cooke in action below.

She really sets the example for female hackers because she, like a lot of them, are something called "Hactivists", kind of like in the movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: they're out to be almost cyber vigilantes -- fighting against internet evil at every turn. Worst part about cyber vigilantes in this case is that we don't get the whole spandex treatment.

70% of Users Are Women, Said Snapchat CEO

10:52 AM vasee

Roughly 70% of Snapchat users are women, the chief executive of the messaging app said at a closed-door Goldman Sachs conference Wednesday.
Co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel said Snapchat users are sending 400 million“snaps” a day on the service, where messages disappear after a few seconds, according to a person who was present at the meeting. He said half of Snapchat’s users have tried out “stories,” a feature the company introduced last month to link multiple messages together.
The on-stage interview, titled “What Lies Ahead for Snapchat,” covered the two-year-old company’s plans after spurning a roughly $3 billion acquisition offer from Facebook
Snapchat has not disclosed its number of users. Spiegel was asked about user numbers Wednesday but declined to discuss them.
Snapchat has no revenue, and Spiegel said the company is in no hurry to make money from advertisers. “There are a lot of things in our product that make it appealing for advertisers, but we want to do it right,” Spiegel told a packed room at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, according to the person who was present.
Mary Ritti, a spokeswoman for Snapchat, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Spiegel said Snapchat’s biggest competitors are rival messaging apps. WeChat and Line are popular in their home markets of China and Japan, respectively, but “there are no real huge players worldwide,” he said.
To expand overseas, Snapchat is relying on users to translate its app into new languages – a low-cost strategy that’s worked for other Internet services such as Facebook and Pinterest. The company plans to add to its current team of 30 employees, Spiegel said.

Google India Ad... Y U SO AMAZING!

6:21 PM vasee

Google facilitates a reunion between two childhood friends separated by the 1947 India-Pakistan partition in this touching ad from Google India.
In the ad, an elderly man named Baldev tells his granddaughter about his childhood friend Yusuf. The two used to fly kites and steal Jhajariyas from a nearby shop and hang out in a park with an ancient gate in the city of Lahore.
Using this information, the woman does a Google search for "park with ancient gate in Lahore" and finds a Wikipedia entry that reveals its name: Mochi Gate. She then does a Google search for "oldest sweet shop near Mochi Gate Lahore" and finds a place called Fazal Sweets.
The woman calls the store and tracks down Yusef, who remembers his old friend. A young man, presumably Yusef's grandson, uses Google to arrange the man's Indian visa and flight. In the end, Baldev and Yusef reunite.

10 Best alternatives for Google Adsense

8:28 PM vasee

1. BuySellAds

I think second largest ad network in the world after Adsense, they will not pay you like Google Adsense or PPC, they will pay you for Ad space sold, mean to say that you have no need to search best advertiser, they will give to advertiser, advertiser will buy space on your website, about payment they will pay you 75% of payment and 25% they will keep.

 2. Yahoo! Bing Network

There is no doubt that YBN is a very good contextual Adsense alternative but it’s also so hard to approve, they give you two payment options Paypal and Wire Transfer. The minimum payout threshold is $100 and it’s very simple to achieve if you have got an honest traffic. YBN CPC Range is 0.05$ – 1$.

3. Infolinks

I am also using infolinks on my other two blogs, this is also best alternate of Google Adsense, for infolinks approval you need a textual website or blog, if you have 15-20 textual post then you will approved by infolinks, there is no need of any other things, Infolinks will pay you according to PPC, Infolinks CPC Range is 0.001$ – 0.30$ and payment method also very easy, if you have 100$ you can receive payment via. Western Union, Wire Transfer, you can receive by Payoneer pre-paid debit card.

 4. Chitika

Chitika, Inc. is a search-targeted advertising company. Chitika is a PPC ads network, I personally used Chitika few years on my blogs, if you have good amount of traffic on your blog, and you can get really good CPC clicks. Approval on Chitika is very easy, need of specific page view or traffic, Chitika CPC Range is 0.01$ – 1$, you can receive payment via  PayPal when your balance crosses $10 or you can receive payments via check (minimum balance must be greater than $50).

 5. Tribal Fusion

Very good alternate of Google Adsense, Tribal fusion is one of the popular CPM Ad network but so difficult to get approve, there are some requirement such as more then 50,0000 page preview per month, you need top-level domain URL, A professional and attractive site design and few more, if you have good enough traffic then you can get account here, you can receive Tribal Fusion payment via. Paypal, CPM Rates of Tribal Fusion is $0.20 to $ 1.

6. Clicksor

Clicksor is reliable alternate of Google Adsense but good enough, it offers banner, text and pop up ads. Clicksor is very easy to approve, there is no such requirements to get approve you can just sign up and you can get account here,  clicksor CPC Range is 0.01$ – 0.5$, $2+ per 1000 views of pop-ups (CPM), you can receive payment via. Payout if you have account balance more then 50$.

7. Media.net

Bing Network Contextual Ads program enables web publishers to easily and earn advertising revenue. Media.net is providing its user the best rates for ads as well as the best ads. You can receive payment via through Paypal if you cross 100$.

8. Bidvertiser

I think one or two time I use this program but I was not really impressed by it but you can try it, approval of Bidvertiser is so easy but it has very low CPC, I think CPC Range is 0.01$ – 0.2$ which is very low cost, you can receive pay via Paypal if you cross balance limit 10$.

9. Kontera
