Super Mario Bros: The Movie Has A Comic Book Sequel

Share

Anybody who’s been a fan of the Super Mario Bros. franchise will know and have probably seen Super Mario Bros: The Movie starring Bob Hoskins – although Dustin Hoffman was originally interested in playing the part. However, even if you did erase the movie from all traces of your memory, some fans chose to keep it, lovingly, wrapped in their nostalgia boxes.
In fact, the movie has a cult following and even launched its 20th Anniversary this year with a screening in the NuArt Theatre in Los Angeles. Subsequent screenings were also held in New York late June to celebrate this retro nostalgic classic.
But the movie screenings are only the icing on the cake as the additional cherries are found within the sequel – not a movie, before you get your heart rates pumping – but a comic book. Super Mario Bros. 2 picks up where the film came to a grinding halt and is written by Steven Applebaum and Ryan Hoss.
The first page of the comic displays a letter from Daisy and gives readers the low-down on why her parallel universe is full of dinosaurs and ruled by the insufferable Koopa, who has overthrown their government, as well as covering the brutal murder of her mother and how her father turned into a fungus.
