Instagram has finally unveiled its photo-messaging services like Snapchat. Its response is Instagram Direct. Instagram has fired a shot against popular messaging service Snapchat with the launch of Instagram Direct.
Instagram Direct allows users to send photos and videos directly to a friend or small group of friends.
The announcement comes after it was revealed that Snapchat turned down a $3-billion offer from Instagram parent company Facebook.
Snapchat differs from other IM services as sent photos and videos are deleted after a few seconds.
"From a photo of your daily coffee to a sunrise shared from the top of a mountain hike, every Instagram moment contains something you find special—something you broadcast to your followers when you tap 'share'," read an official blog entry.
"There are, however, moments in our lives that we want to share, but that will be the most relevant only to a smaller group of people—an inside joke between friends captured on the go, a special family moment or even just one more photo of your new puppy. Instagram Direct helps you share these moments."
After sending the photo or video, you'll be able to find out who has seen it, liked it and commented on it.Instagram Direct will exist within the Instagram app.
